The Strat Hotel, Casino & SkyPod and SPI Entertainment are welcoming Morris Day and The Time to the stage for two nights of funk, soul, and R&B on Sept. 29-30. The "Purple Legacy" shows were originally scheduled for July 28 and 29.

"I want this show to pay the utmost respect and homage to the incredible legacy Prince bestowed upon us.

Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances have arisen, preventing me from delivering the caliber of performance that fans deserve. With a heavy heart, I have made the difficult decision to postpone the July dates," said Day. "This decision was not taken lightly, but it is essential to ensure that the show lives up to the grandeur and magnificence that I have promised. Rest assured, I am wholeheartedly committed to delivering the extravagant spectacle I have been passionately working on."

As the charismatic front man of the iconic 1980s funk group, Day will bring his signature flare, fashion and funk to The Strat. Day was childhood friends with Prince, one of the greatest performers in music history, and sang in his first band, Grand Central.

Day was chosen by Prince to lead The Time, which he created as his alter-ego in music as a cool, streetwise funk band to contrast Prince and the Revolution’s soulful rhythm and blues sound. Day and The Time were cast in "Purple Rain," which captured the exploding Minneapolis music scene at its peak.

The group's famed scenes in Prince's film cemented their place in pop culture, as the film is revered as one of the best music movies ever.

Following the filming, Day burst into the public scene with the group's self-titled 1981 album, The Time, which included hit songs "Get It Up," "Cool" and "Girl."

The group went on to record three more albums, including the 1982 "What Time Is It?, featuring the hits "777-9311," "Wild And Loose," "Walk" and "Gigolos Get Lonely Too"; and "Ice Cream Castle" in 1984, which included the hit "Jungle Love."

After three albums, Day launched his solo career, releasing albums including "Color Of Success" in 1985, "Daydreaming" in 1987 and "Guaranteed" in 1992. Day recently released his fifth and final solo album, "Last Call," in 2022, which debuted at No. 1 on iTunes' Top 100 R&B chart.

Tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates. Those wishing to receive a refund must do so at their original point of purchase.

Accommodating up to 950 guests, The Strat Theater includes a party pit directly in front of the stage, making it one of the most intimate showrooms in Las Vegas. Prior to Morris Day and The Time's shows, the Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar; epic rock band, Cheap Trick; and Grammy award winner, Rick Springfield, have most recently taken the iconic stage.
