KFBK Radio’s first on-air broadcast was on September 17, 1922, at the Kimball-Upson department store located at 607 K St--the location of the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel today--in an effort to promote the store's sales of radios. That was 100 years ago.

Since then, KFBK Radio (93.1 FM and 1530 AM) has been serving the Sacramento Valley with news, information and entertainment that keeps people tuned to their radios for major events of the day as they happen, whether here or around the world.

To honor this monumental occasion, iHeartMedia Sacramento will present the KFBK 100 Year Centennial Celebration Party on Oct. 21 at the Scottish Rite Center in Sacramento.

The KFBK 100 Year Centennial Celebration Party is the hottest ticket in town. Although the event is actually sold out, Award winning talk show host Kitty O’Neal will be broadcasting live at 4 p.m. and you can listen to all the happenings.
The party will be emceed by Jack Armstrong and Joe Getty from “The Armstrong and Getty Show.”

It should be a great evening complete with complimentary memorabilia, delicious food, and drink. Those in attendance can also meet and greet the station’s broadcasting legends. There will be appearances by KFBK on air talent such as Cristina Mendonsa, Sam Shane, Tom Sullivan, John McGinness, Pat Walsh and yes, yours truly, Lana K. Wilson-Combs.

It is hard to believe that I have been the on-air movie critic for the Kitty O'Neal Show since 2010. Time does fly, and it has been an absolute blast and privilege to work alongside Kitty and be part of such an esteemed broadcasting organization.

I first met Kitty O'Neal while covering the Grammys. I introduced myself and told her how much I enjoyed her show. She was interested in my entertainment work, and I asked if she could maybe mention my Website N2Entertainment.net on her show. She asked if I wanted to come in and talk about the movies and other entertainment news on air. I wasn't expecting that response, but sure jumped at the offer. From there, everything just took off. Kitty and I have developed a wonderful on-air rapport and have had a fantastic friendship ever since.

It has been a great ride and I'm looking forward to continuing this fun journey on KFBK for at least 100 years.
